Food & Agriculture Reporter, Harvest Public Media

St. Louis Public Radio, an NPR affiliate, has joined the Harvest Public Media collaborative, creating an opportunity for a confident, motivated reporter to cover food and agriculture.

The reporter will be based in Rolla, Missouri, and will work with the reporters and editors from the seven participating stations in the Harvest Public Media collaborative.

The reporter works closely with Harvest Public Media's editorial team to produce relevant and engaging content about food and agriculture news, food supply and safety, energy and climate change, biofuels, animal welfare, water quality, interesting trends and more. The reporter will create in-depth features and news spots for broadcast and web on St. Louis Public Radio and Harvest Public Media partner stations throughout the Midwest. In addition to the work for Harvest, the reporter will cover significant issues in the Rolla region, which includes Fort Leonard Wood, as assigned.

The ideal candidate is a skilled journalist and writer with excellent radio skills. What's more, the ideal candidate has a track record for finding unique stories, is capable of working independently but is also adept at being part of a team. The ideal reporter is a professional who knows how to manage their time, take feedback and produce fair, accurate and ethical stories for radio and web.


We prefer candidates with a public radio background but are open to training an applicant with significant print or TV news reporting experience who shows a strong desire to transition to public radio reporting in the NPR style. We are looking for candidates who have:
