Associate Development Director, Major Gifts

St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR), the region’s National Public Radio (NPR) member station, seeks an accomplished fundraising professional to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts prospects and donors. This includes securing major gifts for annual support, special projects, capital, endowment and planned gifts.
We’re looking for someone who can comfortably manage a portfolio of 100-200 individuals or foundations; who can consistently demonstrate their face-to-face fundraising capabilities; who likes to develop well-conceived and well-written fundraising proposals; who could enthusiastically generate strategy around the expansion of our major gifts program and who wants to execute those strategies through calls, high-level meetings, stewardship initiatives and other cultivation activities. STLPR’s development team is vibrant, diverse, ambitious and accomplished. A candidate for this position should welcome the opportunity to collaborate, teach and learn as an engaged member of the department. The person who takes on this role should also be a confident, effective communicator, and a mature, reliable leader who is up to the task of supervising other staff members, interns or volunteers.

Minimum: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities is necessary. Must understand and abide by a high standard of professional ethics, and be willing to challenge the status quo. At least five years in development, prospect management, donor cultivation, solicitation or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of planned giving is preferred, too.
An exceptional candidate might also possess some of the following qualities:
- Proven ability and willingness to solicit $10,000+ annual gifts and $100,000+ campaign gifts;
- Ability to build relationships with individuals from various backgrounds;
- Ability to exercise good judgment and demonstrate initiative;
- Ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines;
- Ability to quickly become proficient in donor software and other industry related software;
- Knowledge of and passion for public radio.
