St. Louis Public Radio, an NPR affiliate, has joined the Harvest Public Media collaborative, creating an opportunity for a confident, motivated reporter to cover food and agriculture.
The reporter will be based in Rolla, Missouri, and will work with the reporters and editors from the seven participating stations in the Harvest Public Media collaborative.
The reporter works closely with HPM's editorial team to create sound-rich, in-depth features and news spots for broadcast and digital pieces for the Harvest network. Additionally, the reporter will cover significant issues for St. Louis Public Radio in the Rolla region, which includes Fort Leonard Wood, as assigned.
The ideal candidate is a skilled journalist and creative writer who's able to weave a narrative for radio and digital audiences. They also have a track record of finding unique stories and are capable of working independently but adept at being part of a team. The ideal reporter is a professional who knows how to manage their time, appreciate feedback and produce fair, accurate and ethical stories for radio and web.
We prefer candidates with a public radio background but are open to training an applicant with significant print or TV news reporting experience who shows a strong desire to transition to public radio reporting in the NPR style. We are looking for candidates who have:
